Animals Asia is recruiting a Vietnamese national for the full time Animal Welfare
Officer position to be based in Hanoi.
Position: Animal Welfare Officer
Location: Hanoi with frequent domestic travel as required.
Term: Two year contract extendable based on performance with initial 2 months probationary period.
Salary: 600 USD gross per month + benefits
Responsibilities:
• Provide assistance to run all the projects animal welfare programme related;
• Provide assistance to website design, upgrading and maintaining;
• Provide assistance to design, coordinate and carry out conferences, workshops etc;
• Provide assistance to animal welfare educational campaigns, activities and trainings;
• Good use and management of social media
Specific tasks
• Liaise with Vietnamese animal welfare organisations to co-ordinate capacity building support.
• Introduce bear welfare concept to provincial FPDs with significant bear numbers
• Work with Soc Son Wildlife Rescue centre to first improve bear welfare, later on other wildlife.
Work with Communications team to develop and highlight bear farm welfare issues to public.
• Develop links with
– Hanoi Agriculture University veterinary staff to develop international veterinary educational initiatives
– Vietnamese zoo authorities, circuses to develop behavioural management initiatives
– Ministerial officials responsible for regulating trade in animals for food to work on an end to the trade in dogs for food.
Qualifications
• Devoted to the cause of animal protection and animal welfare;
• At least three years of NGO work experience,
• Good English in listening, reading and writing;
• Passionate and positive work attitude; deep understanding of NGO work
• Excellent skills of organization, coordination and communication;
• Working with people from different economical, political and cultural background;
• Patient, good attention to detail, caring attitude towards animals, confident and ability to deal with setbacks
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Proficient skills in Microsoft office applications
• Good teamwork spirit
• Educational or professional background in animal welfare and related fields are preferred
