Background:
The Asian Turtle Program (ATP) was established in 1998 and incorporated into the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo/Cleveland Zoological Society’s Asia regional program in 2003 working in collaboration with our Vietnamese partner organization, Education for Nature Vietnam (ENV).

The aim of ATP is to establish a safe and sustainable future for Asian turtles, and to ensure that no further turtle species become extinct in the region. We implement strategic interventions that directly contribute to the conservation of Asian turtles, helping to ensure efficient use of limited resources, as well as developing capacity, strengthening leadership, and ultimately effecting positive attitudinal and behavioral change within society.

Scope of work:
The Conservation Field Officer will conduct interview and field surveys to monitor wild turtle populations and engage communities throughout central Vietnam. The surveys will focus on critically endangered and endemic species, the Vietnamese Pond Turtle (Mauremys annamensis), Bourret’s Indochinese Box Turtle (Cuora bourreti) and the Southern Vietnamese Box Turtle (Cuora picturata). Reports on survey activities will be required and the Officer will also be involved with
communities meeting, school programs and others conservation activities.

Main responsibilities: 
Work closely with Local Project Coordinator to make schedules, budgets and complete reports following survey activities  
Analyze and report on the results of research activities 
Assist the Local Project Coordinator with Community meeting, school program, training and wildlife crime advocacy activities 
Assist in management of local count-parts to ensure work objectives are completed following instructions 
Assist with other turtle-related projects activities as required
 
Desired qualifications:
Applicants will need a University degree (Postgraduate Degree preferred) in a related field with good English and at least 1 years of work experience in a similar position.  Ideally experience in community engagement and surveying is preferred.
