Since 1999 GTZ has maintained a representative office in Hanoi, which provides a full range of services to around 20 projects and programmes in the country.

 

In cooperation with Da Nang City People’s Committee, GTZ is now launching the new technical cooperation programme “Eco Da Nang City”. The future GTZ team shall provide strategic advice and capacity building to the Da Nang City People’s Committee and its relevant departments, especially those for Construction, Transport, and Natural Resources & Environment, in (1) environmentally oriented city development planning with a focus on enhanced integration of the various sectoral planning approaches as well as enhanced participation of private sector and civil society, and (2) development of a modern city bus system, complete with demand management and capacity building for a public transport authority and an operating entity. 

GTZ is now seeking 2 qualified and experienced Vietnamese nationals for the full-time positions of:

1. Urban Public Transport Specialist

Duty Station: Da Nang, with occasional travelling to other locations

Starting in June, 2010


Main responsibilities:

  • In cooperation with the relevant Project Management Unit (PMU), assist the German Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) in developing professionally sound strategies for improved and innovative urban transport planning in Da Nang,
  • Liaise constantly with the relevant departments of Da Nang City People’s Committee, especially those for Construction, Transport, and Natural Resources & Environment, and help develop an understanding of the relevance of urban transport matters for their work,
  • Assist the Dept. of Transport in establishing a Public Transport Authority that shall supervise the city bus system operator entity, and in defining the need for further assistance needed,
  • Assist the city bus system operator entity in sketching a corporate development plan and in defining the need for further assistance needed,
  • Liaise with other actors on the urban transport stage and coordinate their actions with the transport policy of Da Nang City People’s Committee,
  • Liaise with civil society, notably the Women’s Union, to ensure its effective participation in the further elaboration of urban transport strategies,
  • Liaise with other cities as well as national and international organisations, to foster an exchange of experiences and views with Da Nang City People’s Committee,
  • Assist the CTA in other professional duties as required.

2. Urban Environmental Planning Specialist

Duty Station: Da Nang, with occasional travelling to other locations

Starting in June 2010


Main responsibilities:

  • In cooperation with the relevant Project Management Unit (PMU), assist the German Chief Technical Advisor (CTA) in developing professionally sound strategies for improved and innovative urban environmental planning in Da Nang,
  • Liaise constantly with the relevant departments of Da Nang City People’s Committee, especially those for Construction, Transport, and Natural Resources & Environment, and help develop strategies for enhanced integration of their various sectoral planning approaches,
  • Liaise with the private sector, notably the various large-scale developers active in Da Nang, to incorporate them more effectively in the urban environmental planning agenda in Da Nang,
  • Liaise with civil society, notably the Women’s Union, and support it in the articulation of an urban environmental planning agenda from their point of view,
              ·         Liaise with other cities as well as national and international organisations, to foster an exchange of experiences and views with Da Nang City People’s Committee,
              ·         Assist the CTA in other professional duties as required.

Minimum qualifications for both positions :

·         Relevant degree from a reputed university

·         Preferably some post-graduate training, preferably of international nature

·         At least 5 – 7 years of professional working experience in a similar position

·         At least 2 years of this in a donor funded work environment

·         Excellent command of English

·         Demonstrated ability to work independently and liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders

·         Good command of relevant computer programs (e.g. MS Office)

·         Dynamic and self-motivated character
