INTERN OPPORTUNITY

Save the Children/US (SC/US) is an international non-governmental organization and a member of the Save the Children Alliance. For more than 15 years, SC/US has worked in Vietnam in the areas of maternal and child health, early childhood development, adolescent reproductive and sexual health, HIV/AIDS, emergency response and preparedness, and microfinance to create real and lasting change in the lives of children in need.

To support growing portfolio of our Economic Opportunities program, SC/US's Vietnam Country Office (VNCO) in Hanoi is currently seeking Vietnamese national for the position of Intern.

Position objectives:

- To provide language support (verbal and written translation Vietnamese-English and vice versa) to assist the Economic Opportunities team with program implementation in Thanh Hoa, Dong Anh (Hanoi), Da Nang and sector support activities.

Duration and place of work:

- Duration: 6 October 2008 - 31 December 2008 (with possible extension)

- Time: 8:30am to 5:30pm (Monday - Friday)

- Place of work: Economic Opportunities program, Hanoi office

Requirements:

- Excellent English in both writing and speaking

- Good at translation and at office skills (MS Words, Excel, Power Point)

- Student or recent graduate available for about 3 months

- Enthusiasm for microfinance, poverty alleviation, and working with people with disabilities in Vietnam.

Responsibilities and activities:

- Support EO team in monitoring & translation of Thanh Hoa microfinance market research and Microfinance working group activities.

- Facilitate communication between Vietnamese and English speakers (verbal and written).

- Assist EO team members in implementing microfinance and people with disabilities programs (on request)

- Support EO team in filing program documents and other logistic work

Expected outcomes:

- Provided excellent written and verbal translation of Vietnamese-English (& vice versa)

- Excellent assistance provided to the EO team in implementing microfinance and people with disabilities programs, in filing program documents and in other logistic work
